Our Philosophy at
Nativity Catholic School
We strive to build community in our school, families, parish, and neighborhood.
We exist as an extension of the family and offer our students a quality education stressing the gospel message as a way of life. We value the family and recognize that parents are the primary educators of their children. We value the dignity of each individual, as a child of God.

Our Mission
Nativity School is committed to the teachings, values, and beliefs of the Catholic Church, while engaging and nurturing each student within a diverse learning community.
WCEA and WASC
Nativity School is accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA).
WCEA accredits Catholic elementary and secondary schools in nine western states (26 (arch) dioceses) and the US Territory of Guam. WCEA co-accredits and is in partnership with three Regional agencies (WASC, NAAS, NCA) and two private agencies (CAIS and HAIS). WCEA began in 1957 in San Francisco and has a long and successful history of assisting school improvement through the accreditation process.
Equity and Inclusion
Nativity School exists for the education of the whole child, so each child thrives and flourishes spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically, as a unique person made in God’s image in a Catholic atmosphere.
Nativity School works to create an inclusive Catholic educational program and pedagogy that fosters respect for others, appreciation of individual, cultural and socioeconomic differences, and commitment to social responsibility, equity, and justice.
Our approach to equity and inclusion stems from our belief in the intrinsic, inherent and inviolable human dignity of every person that is the bedrock of the social teaching of the Catholic Church. We strive to create a community of inclusivity in which all members feel welcomed, affirmed, valued, and respected as reflections of the God who is in all things. We seek to educate students so they are prepared to engage with an increasingly multicultural world and to be active participants and positive contributors to society.
"But any kind of social or cultural discrimination in basic personal rights on the grounds of sex, race, color, social conditions, language, or religion, must be curbed and eradicated as incompatible with God’s design."
Catechism of the Catholic Church (United States Catholic Conference, Inc., 1994), No. 1935, quoting Vatican II, Gaudium et Spes, No. 29
Learning Resource Center
The Learning Resource Center will be open daily to serve students who may need academic interventions and/or help with specific content area skills. The goal of the Learning Resource Program is to recognize and nurture the talents and strengths of every child at Nativity, while remediating areas of academic difficulty and providing support, through differentiation, and using specialized and multi-sensory teaching approaches.
The Learning Resource Program is designed to serve students from Grades K through 8 with identified learning differences (LDs). We are committed to the academic, social, and spiritual well-being of each of our students. To that end, we encourage the development of strengths and talents while supporting academic areas of difficulty.
The classroom teachers refer students who may benefit from additional academic support to LRP. The Learning Resource Specialist (LRS) may perform additional screenings that can provide information about a student's learning strengths and differences. Interventions are monitored. The Response to Interventions (RTI) protocol determines further participation in LRP. Parents, teachers, and support staff communicate and work together to share ideas. This helps tailor the learning program to best suit the learning style of the student. A Student Success Team (SST) may be formed to determine a specialized intervention plan to support your child.
